MacSlash has an interesting article on PowerPC processors that were announced but never released, or in some cases only in limited editions. Some examples are the PowerPC 620 which was a 64-bit desktop CPU back in 1994 and the X⁷⁰⁴ which was supposed to run at more than twice the clockspeed of anything Intel had to offer at the time.
