C|Net News.com has an article with further info about Apple's rumoured switch to x86 CPU architecture. The announcement is expected official on Monday at Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco, where Steve Jobs will hold the keynote speech.

The article says that the lower-end Macs, such as Mac Mini, would move to x86 in Mid-2006 and PowerMacs a year later. With BSD originally programmed for x86, Steve Jobs has said OS X can easily run on x86.

The article carries much more in-depth info than this. Please read it.

Does Microsoft want all it's operating system to be able to run on x86, so that they can show that they aren't as "dominant" as they are, in case there would be a new anti-trust trail against them?
