| | | | Today a new BlueGene Supercomputer started operating in Japan. It's the fastest in Japan - possibly 50% faster than their previous beast - the Earth Simulator. This new supercomputer is actually two machines - a "small" 2.15 Tflops Hitachi and a 57.3 Tflops BlueGene together peaking 59 trillion calculations per second. The supercomputer will be used at the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization in Ibaraki prefecture for studies on high-energy accelerator science such as elementary particle physics and nuclear physics.
