A new snapshot is out, major changes are:

* simple configuration (not autoconf) to deal with different systems
* data rates in "tc" use communication standard K=1000 not K=1024
* also, -iec option and knows about "kibps"
* long style GNU options
* works with "netem" scheduler
* additional options on the ip command (to match ifconfig)

This is for the 2.4 and 2.6 kernels

Gentoo vs. Debian

Dual layer DVD with Sarge ?

Dual Layer DVD are starting to be more common, with space of 8.5GB on a such DVD. Perhaps, for instance all of Debian could fit on a such single DVD.

The Pegasos Open Desktop Workstation has now been listed in IBM's LinuxPPC FAQ. Other listed solutions are Macintosh and Terra Soft Solutions development systems.

Standard 2.4 kernel for Sarge?

In the debian newsletter of August 31, there is mentioned a proposal about using kernel 2.4.27 as standard for Sarge. Reason amongst other things, is that this supports several different architectures.
