Chatter house - be our guest - Microsoft free friday ? Gullden - Oct 21, 2004 - 08:43 Post subject: Microsoft free friday ?
What do you think about that?
Well the real question is, what do you users think about _not_ allowing MS Explorer
to view the pages at Pegasos.org on fridays.

why not
sounds like a great idea

I'm the Naysayer. Why? Well, we, alternative nerds complain when companies
program such poor websites that noone besides IE-users can visit.
Should we do the same thing back? Nah, lots of people use IE on their works
and not everyone is entitled to install whatever they like.
I don't really give a shit which browser people use, as long as they buy Crabs.

The msff module will redirect users of IE to the mozilla download site. It's a good way to inform people that there is a better and free alternative.

Sorry guys, won't do it. It's just stupid.
More restrictions, WEE !... or not

Perhaps, just one Friday
Something like..., if using internet explorer...
"Sorry, your browser are to old or not supported. you can go this site to download a compatible browser" -> Link -> Mozilla"
Suggestion; mozparty2 day...
Could be fun...

I did vote for "yes", but I do think this can harm pegasos.org.
I think we would need a small alternative, use some javascript that popups a message window, telling that the browser used is all to unsecure and old, but allow the user two options, to go to mozilla.org and download a better browser or let them to continue to browse the site (with a new requester popuing up at next page loaded).

This is nothing we _are_ going to do, just merly a question. Why yes, there are alot of people
using MSIE at work, and some can't install mozilla or Firefox.

I voted yes;
but could you please wait until I've bought my
Pegasos and Installed Linux on it?

Mozilla works in windows as well. This is merely a campaign against Internet Explorer (because of smart tags).

I agree. And there is also Netscape, Firefox and Opera.
