Linux, BSD, Unix etc. - Build a vmlinux.chrp for Pegasos, not zImage? ppcner8x8x - May 13, 2005 - 10:31 Post subject: Build a vmlinux.chrp for Pegasos, not zImage?
Hi,
How do you generate Pegasos II-friendly vmlinux images instead of
zImages? I would like to use yaboot to boot Pegasos kernels and initrd.
(Using Sven Luther's patches to 1.3.13)
Yaboot will only use detached initrd with non compressed kernels so I need a CHRP friendly vmlinux.
I tried /usr/src/linux/vmlinux and that doesn't work - yaboot
attempts to load it but nothing happens.
The usual zImage kernels - i.e. zImage.chrp and if I build with
an embedded ramdisk zImage.initrd.chrp both boot successfully.
So how do you generate a vmlinux that is i) Pegasos II CHRP
friendly ii) yaboot friendly.
Of course I tried make vmlinux.chrp #))
but that didn't work.
Thanks.

You need an updated Smart Firmware (unreleased) that supports yaboot.
