Post subject: RAM for Pegasos  PostPosted: Dec 09, 2004 - 07:16

Hi everyone,

I am Homer, from Canada. Thanks to a stick of RAM I am here today.

I bought a stick of 1G RAM days ago on eBay for my PC. Then I found this RAM won't work on my system and then I tried several motherboard but seemd no luck at all. So I searched in Google with the part number on the RAM chip: AE25D1284T-6. Only got 4 results. One of them said that someone had uesd this RAM on a Pegasos system without any problem. So I guess this RAM is for MAC or Pegasos. So if anybody here is sure that this RAM will work on his system, I may sell it to him with very low price. The make of this RAM is GET. No one knows what and where GET is. I can even ship the ram to you before you pay me. I just want to get rid of it and get some money for Xmas. Send email to northeastwind@gmail.com

Thanks everyone.

Homer

The Pegasos uses standard PC DDR RAM (assuming it is a Pegasos II, Pegasos I uses SDRAM). It really should work on your PC.

Howdy

I would like to recommend using DDR266, PC2100 with the Pegasos II. Thats what the specification for the northbridge controller and also specification for the board says.

We can go play pingis sometime, was long time ago I did, so I will probably loose Smile

Can do some training first of course.

But back to ram on the Pegasos II. 1 piece 1GB module should work without problem to use in the Pegasos II. Using 2 pieces 512MB however causes problem (in Linux). This Im sure about. Also mixing 256MB + 512MB can cause problem. About using 2 pieces 1GB module I have no idea.

In Linux you should activate the highmem option for being able to use more then 768MB (think this is the border, have become so when testing here) in the system. MorphOS is another matter, where 1GB works fine to use in the system. However I noticed some smaller problems (very rare I would like to say) can occur when so much memory is used, and which not tends to occur when lesser amount of memory is used.

And recommended ram to use in the Pegasos II should be DDR266, PC2100, however DDR333, PC2700 or DDR400, PC3200 should work as well. About DDR memory with higher frequenzies I have no idea.

He wants to sell the RAM because it doesn't work in his PC. I wold assume that he does not even have a Pegasos.
Your feedback, however accurate, does not quite fit into the context. The fact that it works on a Pegasos system has already been established in the original post.

He has no need for memory information about the Pegasos..

Guest:
Just like dholm said it really should work on your PC as long
as it is of the same memory type.
