| | | | A start-up called Movidis believes a MIPS-based 16-core CPU is a perfect fit for Linux servers. The chip from Cavium Networks was originally desgined for network gear. Movidis will announce two new servers next week on LinuxWorld Conference and Expo in San Fransisco. They will use a single 500 or 600 MHz Cavium Networks Octeon CN3860 chip with 16 cores. This chip is very power efficient - only 30W is consumed. The chip also has 8 Gigabit ports, hardware encryption and 1 MB cache.
The 1U server will cost 3000 USD with no drives and 12000 USD for 2U with a maximum of 8 drives.

Hehe!
I see here that it runs Uboot. They should port AmigaOS 4.0 to this.
Much better than having Helgis wait for P.A Semi's multicores. :P
