Gentoo PPC Team had an IRC meeting last night discussing various topics. The first was to elect new members of the team. As Strategic Leader our very own David Holm was elected. Congratulations!

Luca Barbato will lead the PPC group and Tom Gall the PPC64 group.

Decisions concerning the Pegasos are as follows; the Pegasos sources will be removed once the patchset is included within the vanilla kernel.

Just to clarify things on on topic 5 (Our stable kernel, Pegasos sources, PPC kernel maintainer). Pegasos support will not be removed from Gentoo, just the "pegasos-sources" kernel since it will no longer be needed when pegasos support is available in the mainstream 2.6.12 kernel. When 2.6.12 is released we will just migrate our users to gentoo-sources which is the kernel used for all other arches.
In fact, Pegasos support will be even better with the release of Gentoo 2005.1 since our automated build tools will be Pegasos-compatible by then. Including the script to automatically configure and build a (working) kernel, genkernel. This will also make it easier to use catalyst, our tool to automatically build LiveCDs.
