| | | | The newly released Gentoo 2004.1 GNU/Linux distribution comes with Pegasos support on the official installation media. The Gentoo PowerPC handbook has been updated with installation-instructions for installing Gentoo on a Pegasos computer. The handbook can be found here: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc.xml
For those of you who are already familiar with the installation process simply download the 2004.1 universal installation CD for PowerPC (and binary CD's if you want to install faster) and type the following at the SmartFirmware boot-prompt: boot cd /boot/pegasos root=/dev/ram0 init=/linuxrc looptype=gcloop cdroot
Sven Luther's updated parted with RDB partition support is available on the official CD, so there is no longer a need to use MorphOS or Debian to partition your drive.
This also means that if you buy a Gentoo 2004.1 PowerPC CD from the Gentoo store or any other place it will come with Pegasos support on the CD.
You can download the CDs from one of the Gentoo mirrors found here: http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml
You will need at least the 2004.1 universal CD to install.
Enjoy!
