dholm,
I wish you all the best with that !
However it is very nice that Quake 3 now can run on the Pegasos, and in MorphOS, and very short time after the sources were released as GPL. Good and nice work of bigfoot.
There is also other 3D games that now have been ported to MorphOS, just a few days after the 3D drivers have been released for the public, and today also the TinyGL SDK, and the first beta of Blender for MorphOS.

I remember reading one of the conditions of the GPL that you cannot have your program share memory space with another. Here is related http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#MereAggregation - to me it suggests that with AmigaOS, MorphOS, Commodore 64 or Amstrad CPC or any 100s of other systems, you cannot use GPL'd stuff potentially. |

I don't think you would consider them semantically coupled in this case. |

the problem is one of address space. for example on the Amstrad CPC (which has a Z80 CPU) there is only 1 address space so you cannot use any of the sideways ROMs from a GPL program unless they too are GPLd, this basically makes any 3rd party DOS useless.
with AmigaOS or MorphOS too we have one address space (well, not sure about MorphOS but I suspect to keep AmigaOS compatability), therefore you cannot use any of the datatypes or libraries from a GPL program unless they too are GPLd.
unless I mis-interpretted exactly what it says there... |
