First of all congratulation David.
One thing that worries me with this step to have a common sources than have a pegasos source is that the default values most likely will be Mac world. I would like to see an option (IUSE) which you can tell the kernel to use pegasos or mac specific default settings, think that could simplyfy for pegasos and mac users, so that they don't compile a kernel that don't really work well on the machine for missing to include support for one of the many things that differs between a pegasos and a mac.
