Today Christian Kemp declared that he will close down ANN after ten years as one of the major Amiga community sites with news. Christian Kemp will try to keep ANN.lu on-line as long as possible, except that it will serve as an archive only, and no new content will be added.

We thank Christian Kemp for all his work under thise ten years.

Hehe!

Is anyone surprised? In my opinion that site died a long time
ago when he banned anonymous from posting.

ANN was a site for flamewars. Nothing wrong with that, but
after the flamewars stopped - by banning anonymous posting -
it went into hibernation. The site offered nothing other sites
couldn't offer.

Yes, a lot of the users went away with preventing anonymous posts and much what was left was all those advertisment posts, "We was the fist ones to post this news, but we did see the news at another site than ours, but we won'r mention it in theis post, but make as much advertisment for our own site", I would say those two together drained ANN.

I do see Mr Kemp was trying to keep a site with somewhat seriousity level, contra sites like Amigarulez, Safir and otheres, where fanatics are allowed to rule without an impartial moderation on posts.

One can hope that the contents is stored by someone, there are really a lot of history that would be sad if it was lost from when ANN once appeared.
