| | | | Michal 'kiero' Wozniak released a new version of ShowGirls. ShowGirls is a powerful image viewer/browser and processing application. Version 0.8 fixes some bugs and adds new features which probably introduces new problems. Various functions were improved and enchanced. Some of it's features:
- Easy browsing of directories (with mouse and keyboard)
- Lots of supported file formats thanks to Datatypes system
- Nice MagicUserInterface GUI
- Image processing options like resizing, color balance, smoothing,> sharpening, cropping, glowwing, noise reduction etc.
- Saving of images in JPEG (with preview), PNG or IFF
- Loading/displaying images with alpha channel
- Scaling image display to fit in the window (user controlable)
- Scrolling/zooming of big images
- Optional bilinear filtering of the displayed image
- Drag&drop of files/directories to be displayed
- DOS notifications support (refreshing of list of files when new files are copied in/ removed)
- Thumbnailes generator (with templates)
- Lossless JPEG transformations (for photos from digital camera from example)
- Automatic rotation of images taken from digital cameras (if camera provides needed informations).
- 2 directory browsing methods. Using "simple" list or list of thumbnails (miniature of image)
- Thumbnails browser optimized for viewing pictures taken with digicam (very fast thumbnail creation)
- Opus Magellan-like quick search function
- Simple file management functions like copy, move, rename, delete
- Text inserting function (using TTengine by Grzegorz Graszewski)
- Color picker
- ARexx interface
- 3D View for more eyecandy
- Displaying of EXIF information stored in images.
- ...and much more!
Version 0.8 fixes some bugs and adds new features which probably introduces new problems. Various functions were improved and enchanced. Here is an almost complete list of changes (some things i simply forgot):
FIXED:
- When changing to/from fullscreen with other windows opened they are moved to front.
- Various small bugs and invalid memory acceses.
- Crashes when switching images with asynchronous refresh enabled.
- Sometimes rightmost column on thumbnail had wrong color.
- Memory leak when checking saved JPEG quality.
NEW:
- Loading of CMYK JPEGs.
- Possibility to disable color subsampling in JPEG saver. Results in better color quality (not 'washed out') in some cases.
- Selective gaussian filter. Usefull for noise removal.
- Glow filter.
- Straighten tool. Helps to correct rotated scans or pictures.
- Manual marking of cropped area.
- Thumbnails view uses directory icons if possible.
- File management functions can be executed on multiple files at once (multiselection).
- More keyboard shortcuts added to menu items.
- Image rotation also possible using numeric keyboard (keys 7 and 9).
- When changing browser mode currently selected file is remembered.
- In thumbnails view, selected thumbs are highlighted.
- 'Delayed scanning' option. Starts thumbnails generation only after browser is enabled.
- Display of EXIF tags from JPEG images.
- Automatic rotation of pictures with vertical orientation (if camera supports it and writes needed info).
- 3D View (3DVIEW tooltype or command param). Just useless eyecandy for now:)
- Background/Shadow color adjustment for display area.
- Save function (in addition to Save As).
- In thumbnailer module size of resulting thumbnail can be specified.
- Undo. For now just simple one level one. Was that or no release for xmess.
- ARexx interface with following commands:
- + Load - loads image given as param
- + LoadNext - loads next image in active directory
- + LoadPrev - loads previous image in active directory
- + ChangeDirectory - sets new active directory
- + SaveJPG - saves loaded image as JPEG with selectable quality
- + SavePNG - saves loaded image as PNG with optional alpha channel
- + SaveIFF - saves loaded image as IFF ILBM 24bit
- + ImageWidth - returns loaded image width
- + ImageHeight - returns loaded image height
- - ImageDate - returns loaded image date (if possible, extracted from EXIF)
- + Scale - scales image with given filter
- + Crop - crops image
- + Blur - blurs image (selectable method (alpha, rgb, alpha + rgb) and radius )
- + SelectiveBlur - selectively blurs image (selectable method, radius and threshold)
- + Sharpen - sharpens image (selectable radius and strength)
- + Levels - adjusts histogram (selectable method)
- + ClipboardCopy - copies loaded image into clipboard
- + ClipboardPaste - pastes image from clipboard into buffer
- + InsertText - inserts text at given position (selectable font and other params)
- (NOTE:-missing in this version, sorry)
OTHERS:
- Updated libz and libpng to current versions.
- Faster text inserting routine.
- Rotation routines much faster (up to 300%) for bigger images.
- String gadget with numeric values can be controlled using mouse wheel (MUI4).
- Speedup to various parts of the code.
