| | | | As Pegasos.org reported earlier - Genesi is contributing to the OSU - Open Source Labs at Oregon State University with an Open Desktop Workstation. The question is, what does it do? Where does one AltiVec-optimized Gentoo-ODW fit in at a large university?
Well, here you have it - PrettyBoy. They are currently using it as a webcam server during their data center move. On the webcam you can see the entire move and when finished they will use 90 industry-standard racks.
Bill and Raquel have blogged about this.

| | | | Ulrich Bauer from Miray informs us he and Miray will show µnOS on the Pegasos PowerPC (ODW) at the Systems IT.Media.Communications fair in Munich at the 24-28 October.
µnOS is based on a nano-kernel and a completely new approach of an embeddable, scalable and distributable multitasking operating system.

| | | | This is one thing we have all been waiting for - an open Pegasos PowerPC motherboard to fit in an industry-standard 19" 1U rack case. The Dual 970MP board will be MicroATX with horizontally mounted CPUs.
Bill and Raquel? Put me up for one, please! :)

| | | | 5-4-3-2-1 - Lift-off!
The Pegasos has conquered all seven continents. The last one was of course Antartica. MorphOS developer Jacek Piszczek will be at the The Polish Antarctic Station, Henryk Arctowski for the next 14 months. He has his ODW with him. Talk about cool computing! The next obvious step is space..
Yesterday Genesi had an Open Desktop Workstation order from MDA Space Missions. There will be an ODW integrated into an Unmanned Robotics Solution..

| | | | Genesi expanded its Operating System offerings today with including OpenSolaris as pre-installed alternative together with Open Desktop Workstations. You can purchase machines with OpenSolaris Community Edition pre-installed and each of these machines sold will support the OpenSolaris effort with 50 USD. This works the same as previous Gentoo and MorphOS ODW's.
This agreement with BlastWare made Genesi rise to Diamond Level Sponsor.
