Terra Soft Solutions have revealed that they will release Yellow Dog Linux 5.0 for Playstation 3 in mid-November. It will be a free download for everyone who wants to use Linux on their Playstation 3.

The PowerPC version of Yellow Dog Linux 5.0 will be released by the end of the year.

After Terra Soft's deal with Sony we can only hope this is true. Running a cheap Cell-machine is probably every Power developer's dream..

Happy Birthday Linux!

On August 25th 1991 Linus Torvalds posted a message to comp.os.minix:
Hello everybody out there using minix — I'm doing a (free) operating system (just a hobby, won't be big and professional like gnu) for 386(486) AT clones. This has been brewing since april, and is starting to get ready. I'd like any feedback on things people like/dislike in minix, as my OS resembles it somewhat (same physical layout of the file-system (due to practical reasons) among other things)

Happy 15th Birthday!

Lenovo Bullshitting About Pre-installed Linux Laptops
Posted by: ironfist on Thursday, August 17, 2006 - 12:30
Submitted by ironfist
As reported two weeks ago, Lenovo was supposed to pre-install Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 on it's Thinkpad T60p laptop. This is pure bullshit and in fact they will only provide a blank harddrive. SLED costs 50 USD/year and is not included in this deal. The buyer will have to pay this themselves.

So much for Linux for everyone..
