Swedish Webhosting Providers Raided
Posted by: ironfist on Friday, March 11, 2005 - 18:49
Submitted by ironfist
The large Swedish webhosting company Bahnhof AB was raided yesterday morning by Swedish authorities. The company has been accused of large file sharing. Behind this accusation stood Antipiratbyrån ("Anti Pirate Agency"), STIM and record companies Universal Music, Sony and EMI. Bahnhof subsidiaries One Stadsnät AB and GlobeCom Network AB were also affected.

Bahnhof CEO Jon Karlung is very upset about the behaviour from the authorities. Instead of asking for help, they just showed up in the middle of the night and started taking down servers. They had a court rule for taking down three servers and extracting names from certain IP numbers and e-mail addresses.

Antipiratbyrån sits on the same address as Bahnhof Headquarters in Stockholm and they are a customer of Bahnhof.
