Hardware failure
Posted by: kozz on Sunday, May 20, 2007 - 00:52
Submitted by kozz
Todays downtime on pegasos.org was a result of hardware failure. Yes, our Pegasos 2 G4 machine previously hosting Pegasos.org died this morning sometime when we were asleep. The reason is still unknown. It simply stopped responding and all attempts to boot it again failed. The Pegasos is from now on replaced with an x86 machine - an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.86GHz. For the moment with only 512 MB RAM but that will hopefully change next week, need to buy more memory modules. We plan to configure it with RAID 1 (mirror) this time. Not that any data was lost, all harddrives are still working, but feel safer to have RAID mirror and of course in combination with all the ordinary backups. At least the computer is more powerful now. :)

PUSH 2007.1 - With Lower Entrance Fee!
Posted by: ironfist on Friday, April 20, 2007 - 22:02
Submitted by ironfist
The number one alternative computer event in west of Sweden - PUSH - will be held this year in June. The doors will open Friday 15th June at 20:00 (8 PM) and we go on until Sunday 17th at 15:00 (3 PM). The party is open to everyone running alternative operating systems. The PUSH building is a Windows Free Zone. The news for this year is that we lower the entrance fee - instead of going with the inflation. The new fee is 140 SEK for pre-registered attendees and 240 SEK if you show up unregistered. We will be at the same place as previous years - at WartagÄrden in Gothenburg. More information and driving directions are available on the PUSH website.

If you are interested in visiting PUSH we would like you to pre-register at the PUSH website. The registration is not binding at all. If you don't come we won't charge you a bit. It is just to make it a little easier for us to know how many visitors we must prepare for.

More information will follow closer to the event, but if you have any questions, don't hasitate to ask in the forum or drop us a mail/PM.

See you there!

From March 1, China will implement their version of RoHS and it will include 1800 different types of electronics, which will be labled with an environmental protection sticker. The main difference between EU RoHS and Chinese RoHS is that in China there will be the catalogue, with all products that hs to meet the RoHS regulations, while in EU all products has to meet the regulations, if not on an exclude list.

I have uploaded my pictures from FOSDEM 2007. Sorry for the bad quality on some pictures, but photographing on a presentation screen in a dark room, far away with no flash isn't the easiest thing to do.

The pictures are here.

The ex. Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was hanged early this morning. Hussein was hanged for his role in the 1982 Dujail massacre, in which 148 Iraqis were killed after a failed assassination attempt against Saddam Hussein. His last words were "Allahu Akbar!
