QNX Publishes Neutrino Source Code and Opens Development Process

OTTAWA, September 12, 2007 — In a move that revolutionizes software development practices by combining the best of the open source and commercial software domains, QNX Software Systems today announced that it is opening access to the source code of its QNX® Neutrino® realtime operating system (RTOS) under a new hybrid software licensing arrangement.

IBM Java 6 Early Release Program

IBM has released yet another JDK, Java Development Kit, this time for the current stable Java 6.

Binaries are available for Linux on x86 (32/64-bit) and PowerPC (32/64-bit) and for AIX on PowerPC (32/64-bit). Sun's JDK on the other hand is only available for x86 on Linux.

First Parts of Java Released Under GPL

Sun Microsystems has open sourced the first parts of Java under GPL. The part is J2ME and is renamed to phoneME. They offer binaries for Linux/x86, Linux/ARM and Windows/x86.

CELL Cross Compile Toolchain for Gentoo Complete

Pegasos Group Meeting in San Diego Sat July 1st

Hello fellow Amigans and Morphians!

We are having a Pegasos User Group meeting this Saturday in San Diego california. We urge all Pegasos users in the West Coast to attend as we will be geeking out with multiple Pegasos boxes running Morphos, Linux, Mac OSX and more! There will be fun demonstrations and tutorials on various aspects of the Pegasos and should be a really good time for all. The event is hosted by Acill and Magnetic of magnetic systems. Non Pegasos and Amiga 1 owners are welcome to attend and do a demo as well. This is a universal event and you dont even need to have one of these machines to attend. Hope to see you there. Sun Java Runtime Environment for Linux/PPC

Sun has officially released its J2SE Runtime Environment for embedded Linux/PPC. It is version 1.4.2 and for evaluation purpose only. If you want to ship it with an embedded product it requires a license and a small license fee.
