GCC 4.1 has been released. Notable changes from the changelog includes support for MorphoSys and improvements made to the AltiVec intrinsics to decrease the burden on the preprocessor. There are also some enhancements in the auto-vectorizer which should be good news for those of us with AltiVec-enabled CPUs.

REBOL for Linux/PPC Updated
Posted by: ironfist on Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 21:47
Submitted by ironfist
Carl Sassenrath and his team has updated REBOL for Linux/PPC.

Carl writes:
"Just a quick note that we've updated our Genesis PPC build of REBOL/Core and just recently added support for REBOL/View (the graphical version of REBOL) for your system! These releases also support the new REBOL Virtual Machine ("rebcode") that we are finalizing. The VM obtains performance 10-20 times (not percent, times!) faster for special types of numeric and graphical applications."

Genesi continues its t-shirt offer to all confirmed betatesters.

REBOL Betatesters Wanted
Posted by: ironfist on Saturday, October 08, 2005 - 15:31
Submitted by ironfist
Bill Buck and Raquel Velasco asks you all to test drive the September 8th build of REBOL. This is an initial test build of REBOL for the Open Desktop Workstation/PegasosPPC running Debian and Gentoo Linux. Carl Sassenrath says, "this is our first non-OSX PPC build for quite some time. Please let us know how it works for you." There is a possibility of a MorphOS port if there is enough Linux/PPC interest.

The 100 first betatesters to file a report will receive the coolest T-Shirt we ever made!
