Casper mATX Tiny TowerIntroduction
Gunne at GGS-Data wanted me to review one of his new towers he has for sale. This one is a small Micro-ATX tower suitable for the Pegasos. I took pictures during my testing. The case is manufactured by Yeong Yung. A PDF is available here.
Front of case (desktop mode)
Overview
The case can be used both as tower or as desktop. You may choose yourself and four rubber feet are included for not scratching the sides. The case is of normal Micro-ATX size (136 x 340 x 329 mm). All ports and devices on the front are hidden behind doors. The PSU is more than enough for the Pegasos - 200W.

Packaging
One carton with an "installation manual" on top. No paper-manual is included. Too few screws are included. Make sure you have your own screws for motherboard, HDD and CD-ROM.

The cages for 3.5" and 5.25" are supposed to be easily removed (according to package illustration), however neither I nor my girlfriend managed to remove the cage for the 3.5"-devices. The 5.25" was removed easily by unscrewing three screws. Two of these screws also kept the 3.5" cage fixed. We found no other screws in it and there is some form of lock but we never got it off. A big minus. There was only one way to mount our HDD and that was to remove the PSU first. That is not hard of course, but should not be needed. The PSU was fixed with three screws.

One big plus is that all distancees (spelling?) between the case and motherboard were already mounted. It was very easy to put the Pegasos in the case and fasten it. One of the USB cables fitted just fine on the Pegasos USB header (too bad there is only one header..). If you want to use the other USB port you will have to do some hardware hacking yourself. This will most likely void your warranty. The power LED has (as usual) a three pin wide connector but only two are used. Since the Pegasos only has room for 2 pins you must cut it in half with a knife and plug them in on each pin. Very easy and everyone can do it. The power switch and HDD-LED fits fine with no modification needed. There is no Reset switch.

Cooling
The PSU has a quiet 60mm fan which provides some airflow within the case. The PSU only has a grill horizontelly which means behind the FDD/HDD. If it would be grilled below (above the CPU) the PSU would easily get top ratings. They probably thought of this and made room for an optional 60mm case fan on the back, right behind the CPU. Since the Pegasos CPU-card has its heatsink/fan faced towards the front of the case I have my doubts of proper cooling. However, this heat should rise to the top of the case and therefore be sucked out through the PSU. In the front there are lots of holes for proper airflow. You should be able to put a 40 or 60mm fan behind your 5.25" unit. I have tried to take a picture. Sorry about the quality! There are quiet Papst/Adda fans today with decibels of 12-14 and I can recommend them. As always, try to use rounded IDE-cables for not stopping too much circulating air.

Last words
This is a solid case, no doubts in that. There are a few problems (3.5" cage and too few screws supplied) but overall I recommend it for a discrete Pegasos workstation. There is enough room within the case for not forcing any cables to positions where they could do damage (to capacitators and such) The doors covering the front devices are a very good idea, however the 5.25" door appears to have problems staying up when opened and case standing as a tower. No problems at all when used as desktop.
