There's now an updated parallel.device available both on FTP and MorphOS Team Home Page which fixes blockage when there's nothing connected to the port and complete or partial loss of printouts, it's recommended for everyone with a parallel printer...
Big thanks to Marek Szyprowski for not only pinpointing the issue, but also testing the updated device!
