| | | | On July 6th the European Parliament will vote either 'yes' or 'no' to US-style software patents. To stop the patents they need a minimum of 367 votes. Everyone absent from the voting will automatically vote 'yes'. The story over at Slashdot gives you more info and links to what you can do to stop software patents.

| | | | New MorphOS build of Free Pascal Compiler is out. The most significant change is the support for libraries using SysV ABI. So nothing prevents creating Pascal-written apps using eg. TinyGL or PowerSDL any more. There were other smaller changes too, and of course the compiler core is updated to latest CVS version as usual.

| | | | The EU Council will pass the Software Patents Directive on Monday without any voting nor debate.
Once the Council has adopted the directive, it will go back to the EU Parliament for a second reading. The Parliament will then have three months in which to make its views known.
